There are several quick and easy lead generation techniques any website owner can implement. Once a few of these are in place, they are on auto-pilot and continue to bring in new leads.
1. Have an optin box
When visitors arrive at our website, the first thing you want to do is get their email address. Use an opt-in form prominently displayed in the sidebar.
The optin form should have compelling “copy” and appear “above the fold”. What does that mean? The form needs to be visible when they arrive on your landing page without them having to scroll down on the browser window.
2. Offer a free Ebook or whitepaper
Offering a free ebook or whitepaper provides more incentive for the visitor to provide their email address.
Make sure it’s something that your target audience would be interested. Something that will teach, inform, or help them solve a problem.
3. Create newsletter
Once a potential customer gives you their email address, you want to reach out to them on a weekly or monthly basis. Newsletters are a great way to begin and continue a dialog with customers.
It’s a way to tell them more about your business and build a relationship. You want to stay on top of their mind so when they are ready to make a purchase, they think of you first.
4. Use auto-responders
Write a series of follow-up messages about your products and services. Schedule them to go out once a week for 4-6 weeks to remind clients about your products and services.
If you have an online store, include the links to the product purchase pages to make it easy for the client to buy if they are ready.
5. Ask clients for testimonials
One of the best ways to promote your business and get more is by getting client testimonials. Provide excellent customer service and ask your clients for testimonials.
Most will be more than happy to give one and they will also tell their friends and business associates about you. Everyone likes to do business with someone they know, trust, or has been recommended.
6. Send clients Thank you
Once you finish a project or sell a product or service, send a Thank you note to the customer. Then follow it up note a few weeks later with a special offer on their next purchase. This keeps the relationship going and you stay their radar.
7. Publish a press release
A press release provides great exposure, especially if it’s shared on social media channels. It’s a way to get the word out about new products and services you offer and get back on customer radar.
